THIS RELEASE IS NOT A JOKE
I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH
my final release (at least, for the moment), as "take-a-nobu".
contains unreleased works for unfinished albums, my work for the videogames DRAGON DROP, BUN N' GUN and A RARE ENCOUNTER [links below], and several WIP files that I wanted to share with the world before they faded into the back of my HDD [listed as bonus tracks].
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been working on music for almost a whole decade. My brother taught me how to use Ableton when I was 14 or 15 and ever since then, I've been putting out music under this alias, taken directly from the name of one of my favorite composers, Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.
I wanted to make music for videogames. Stuff like Ridge Racer, Daytona USA, beatmania, etc. The kinda stuff I was into when I had the energy to pour hours and hours into them.
Of course, time goes by, and life happens. You meet wonderful people, you go to college (twice), and you start dating people; some come and go, others leave forever, and you start getting into more and more things. You find bigger things to focus on and think about. For me, finding the ParaPara community really helped me see what I wanted to do in life.
I'm gonna start doing some DJ work very soon. College has taught me a lot of things that I need to start applying seriously to my work.
More importantly, I felt like this alias had held me back for a very long time.
I've always wanted to make music for videogames, and I still want to. But now that I want my music to also exist outside of those spaces, I want to move on from all this weird, experimental stuff I've made. I think I'll come back to it for select works; stuff closer to the louder, sample-heavy based stuff I used to make. I still want to put out stuff like the FHS songs.
But right now, songs like "Blue Veil' and 'Red Light' are the kind of stuff I want to do. Juliana's Tokyo, Hyper Techno Mission; the songs on those CDs--they've been my biggest obsession for years now. Those were the main inspirations for those songs. I want to make proper old-school JuliTechno. That's the direction I'm going in. When I come back, you'll find me under a proper name. One closer to me (literally!). It won't take long... I hope!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In regards to this release: this is a collection of select files from my WIPs that I never finished or put out there. The first six songs are the most "complete" of the bunch, before the game music. The videogame tracks were planned to have proper releases, but I was too lazy/too busy to do it, so here they are, haha.
The rest are placed as "bonus tracks". Most of these reuse samples I've used in other tracks. Some samples are more obvious (read: lazier) than others.
Some of these projects were in the works for months or years, some were made in an evening, some had more effort put into them, and some took several restarts, but none of them satisfied me. This is my way of letting go. I hope you enjoy it!
All of these tracks are AS IS from the original renders, no edits.
As always, to everyone that has ever supported me and my music--thank you, from the bottom of my heart. There are only so many words I can use to describe my gratitude. Thank you to all the people who made music, all the people who loved music, and all the people who cared for music. Thank you to everyone, everyone, and everyone.
I promise you, I will keep making music.
Until next time,
Jess C. Ramírez
ps: as always, do what you want with my music. just credit me.
